Expatbrat Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Hi I have Minecraft 1.7.4 installed but am using 1.7.2 Forge on a new Arch Linux 64 bit installation. I installed Forge successfully, all the mods look OK in the Mods window but none of them work. I tried deleting the META-INF file from the Forge .jar after installing the mods but got the black screen of death so I put it back. All the mods installed are .jar files, I tried to install some .zip files but the game crashed again. Apart from the mods the game works fine. I hope this is the right log file:- http://pastebin.com/fEVukQhK These are the mod files I put into the mod directory. /home/edmund/.minecraft/mods/[1.7.2]BetterFonts1.1.3.jar /home/edmund/.minecraft/mods/buildcraft-1.7.2-5.0.0.jar /home/edmund/.minecraft/mods/GSWireUniversal-1.7.x-srg-b111Forge.jar /home/edmund/.minecraft/mods/OptiFine_1.7.4_HD_D1.jar /home/edmund/.minecraft/mods/VillageTaverns-2.2.0-0.22.jar Thanks Quote
LexManos Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 That log doesnt have a crash in it, .... However it does say your optifine file is corrupt. You should try killing your mods folder and trying with JUST forge and then adding one file at a time. Quote I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. Expatbrat Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 Many thanks for a speedy reply on a Sunday evening. I have removed the optifine mod and the other mods appear to be working though we (my son and I) can´t see any village taverns. The build craft mod may have been working all along. Some mods come with just .zip files such as /home/edmund/Downloads/DrZharks MoCreatures Mod v6.2.0-DEV-R1.zip and when I try to put those in the mods directory the game does crash. Shall I try it again and pastebin the logfile again? Putting .jar and.zip files in the same directory and expecting it to work worries me. Quote
LexManos Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Jar files ARE zip files, they are the same thing, it's just that jar files have the potential to have java specifc things in them. As for not being able to see taverns, that'd be a mod thing, you'd have to ask the mod author about it. As for any other issues you may find, try reading your log file to see if there are any exceptions printed and if there is see the line above them to gague what mod it's from. But theres not much we can do without information and exact details. Quote I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. Expatbrat Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 OK, all my mods are working now (in a new game), any remaining problems in the old game are obviously due to conflicts between the mods, in this case buildcraft and mo´creatures. I believe that is a problem for the mod pages. Am I right in thinking that adding new mods once a game is in progress is difficult/impossible/not recommended? Quote
