Could you explain a bit more? I think you're reffering to tileentity's to save nbt data.

Many mods like Enderchests save the NBT data on their Item when their broken. I know how do give an item that data but how can I parse it from an Item to a blocks tileentity.

use the on item dropped and use this to get the data

    TileEntityHeatConductant tile = (TileEntityHeatConductant) world.getTileEntity(x,y,z);

    if (tile != null)

    {

    var = tile.thing you want;

    }

There is not much to see yet...

@Override
public TileEntity createNewTileEntity(World world, int i) {
        //Get item data from somewhere...
return new ConveyorBeltTileEntity(ItemData data);
}

Okay so I have this for one of my items

ItemStack sample = new ItemStack(BlocksItems.Sample, 1);
sample.stackTagCompound.setString("Researched", "yes");

then if you would send the itemstack via the constructor to the tileentity

New TileEntityItem(ItemStack sample);

then you could read your data in the tileentity using

private ItemStack sample;
public TileEntityItem(ItemStack item) {
               this.sample = item;
}

public static void yourmethod(){
     sample.stackTagCompound.getstring("Researched");
}

hope this helps you abit

But how do I get the Tileentity to know that data...

Or will a tileentity automatically take the Items data it was placed with?

I cant save nbt data on a block item so I create a new ItemBlock to place the block. That item has nbt data when crafted and should give that data to the te when it is placed.

I already did it. You can override the onBlockPlayedByPlayer method. It gives you an itemstack of the item you used to place the block and a worldobj so you can get the te you just created and give it the ItemStack to work with...

    • Thank you for the suggestion if figure that it should be able to support around 40 based on my previous experiences hosting but no one really seems to have a concrete way of figuring it out. You have been alot more helpful than most people and i will probably set up Linux tomorrow.

    • Graphics are irrelevant for a server. According to google, it should support 20-40. I literally asked it "how many players on a lightly modded minecraft server will a ryzen 5 2600 with 32GB ram support?" Maybe someone with some real world experience has further input. I can say without a doubt that if you run Linux as opposed to windows for the server operating system, you will get better performance and have more resources available to your server.
    • Could someone help me to figure out what's the problem?  I get this crash when I try to enter to a world in forge 1.12.2:  The game crashed: exception in server tick loop Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Exception in server tick loop Error code: -1 here is the crash report crash-2025-07-15_20.44.02-server333.txt
