Posted April 10, 201411 yr So I have a block that should behave like a ladder. And I have found the Forge Hook: public static boolean isLivingOnLadder(Block block, World world, int x, int y, int z, EntityLivingBase entity) { if (!ForgeModContainer.fullBoundingBoxLadders) { return block != null && block.isLadder(world, x, y, z, entity); } else { AxisAlignedBB bb = entity.boundingBox; int mX = MathHelper.floor_double(bb.minX); int mY = MathHelper.floor_double(bb.minY); int mZ = MathHelper.floor_double(bb.minZ); for (int y2 = mY; y2 < bb.maxY; y2++) { for (int x2 = mX; x2 < bb.maxX; x2++) { for (int z2 = mZ; z2 < bb.maxZ; z2++) { block = world.getBlock(x2, y2, z2); if (block != null && block.isLadder(world, x2, y2, z2, entity)) { return true; } } } } return false; } } which then leads me to this property in ForgeModContainer: prop = config.get(Configuration.CATEGORY_GENERAL, "fullBoundingBoxLadders", false); prop.comment = "Set this to check the entire entity's collision bounding box for ladders instead of just the block they are in. Causes noticable differences in mechanics so default is vanilla behavior. Default: false"; fullBoundingBoxLadders = prop.getBoolean(false); My question is, How do I use this property in my config file? (or do I also need to call the forge hook method in some way?) (I have already tried this:) Property prop; prop = config.get(Configuration.CATEGORY_GENERAL, "fullBoundingBoxLadders", true); prop.comment = "Set this to check the entire entity's collision bounding box for ladders instead of just the block they are in. Causes noticable differences in mechanics so default is vanilla behavior. Default: false"; ForgeModContainer.fullBoundingBoxLadders = prop.getBoolean(true); (It did not work) Edit: this is for 1.7.2
April 10, 201411 yr So I have a block that should behave like a ladder. So you have a custom block, which should behave like a ladder? For that you don't need to access anything, just override the isLadder method mentioning in the code you've shown within your block class and return true. Don't ask for support per PM! They'll get ignored! | If a post helped you, click the "Thank You" button at the top right corner of said post! | mah twitter This thread makes me sad because people just post copy-paste-ready code when it's obvious that the OP has little to no programming experience. This is not how learning works.

Edit: Wow I did not even see this comment. my bad! You change it in the forge configuration ( forge.cfg ) Ah. I see.... so wait. Changing forge.cfg will affect all mods someone is running, not just my mod, yes?

Changing forge.cfg will affect all mods someone is running, not just my mod, yes? Yes. EDIT: I highly doubt your approach will have any success either. since it just looks for a broader bounding box (you could actually copy the check for yourself and implement it somehow in your isLadder method) Don't ask for support per PM! April 11, 201411 yr I agree with SanAndreasP -- a Block already has an isLadder() method. In your Block class you should just have something like: @Override public boolean isLadder(IBlockAccess world, int x, int y, int z, EntityLivingBase entity) { return true; } The code you quoted for isLivingOnLadder() method in your original post definitely checks the isLadder() method and returns true as long as the box isn't null, no matter which of the boundingbox code paths it takes. That should be all you need to do. In fact if you look at BlockLadder class, that is exactly what it does. If you don't trust that, then make your block an extends BlockLadder class to pick up the ladder behavior. Check out my tutorials here: http://jabelarminecraft.blogspot.com/
