When I updated forge, I got to the Mojang screen for about 1 millisecond and then I got a black screen.

Here is my ForgeModloader-client-0:

If you're installing manually, it's best to start with a clean minecraft.jar via Force Update if you want to add the newest Forge. But for most mods you can make this easier on yourself if you use MultiMC or Magic Launcher. Direwolf made a video spotlight of MultiMC 4.0, so give that a watch on how to do things with it. It's really simple.

However, if you insist on doing it manually (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing... you learn stuff), just remember to backup your minecraft.jar before you change anything about it.

Check out my

Texture Packs Thread here on the Forge Forum. :)

Currently in the process of adding some mod support for JohnSmith Texture Pack.

All of you are wrong!

Install Optifine LAST, AFTER forge.

That's what the Optifine OP says, but apparently only a small handful read it.

Read the EAQ before posting! OR ELSE!

This isn't building better software, its trying to grab a place in the commit list of a highly visible github project.
