How to make an API mod?

Hi all,

 

I have several classes and stuff that are now put in my only mod (RFTools) but I'm planning on making other mods and I would reuse the classes I made in there without having to copy it all over everytime. What's the best way to make such an API mod which is shared by my other mods? I currently have several projects (for my mods) set up using IntelliJ and gradle.

 

People have been telling me to use Maven but it is not clear to me how that would work?
