[1.8] Making IIcon storage.

Recommended Posts

So in 1.7.10 I did this while registering some item in method that had IIcon reference in it. I simply put x number of IIcons into HashMap and then pulled them from there by name.

How can I have something like it in 1.8 (there are no IIcon methods that can be overriden).

Goal: My Items textures are pulled from NBT, let's take longsword:

blade: "name"

guard: "name"

grip: "name"

Normally those would be from my HashMap, now - I need ideas.

1.7.10 is no longer supported by forge, you are on your own.

Currently, it doesn't look like this is possible without ASM (due to the new model stuff). You could register different models (that correspond to the textures) as metadata values of the item (you won't actually need metadata), and use ASM to transform some methods (one would be RenderItem.func_175049_a). Hopefully forge will have hooks for this in the future.

Hopefully!  Otherwise my Artifacts mod won't be able to update to 1.8 (I use a ton of textures-by-NBT).

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
