I'm trying to add a recipe that uses obsidian but I can't seem to figure out how to do that.

this is what I have

package com.FirstArchon.RedStoneium.init;

import cpw.mods.fml.common.registry.GameRegistry;
import net.minecraft.block.Block;
import net.minecraft.item.ItemBlock;
import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack;
import net.minecraftforge.oredict.OreDictionary;
import net.minecraftforge.oredict.ShapedOreRecipe;
import net.minecraftforge.oredict.ShapelessOreRecipe;

public class Recipies

{
public static void init()
{
	GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ShapedOreRecipe(new ItemStack(ModItems.RedDiamondGem), "ror ", "rdr", "ror ", 'r', "dustRedstone", 'd', "gemDiamond", 'o', new ItemBlock(Block.obsidian)));

	//GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ShapelessOreRecipe());

}
}

my main problem is I'm not really sure how tell it what o is when o is a block in item form. I did a few Google searches and it didn't turn up anything particularly helpful. could someone explain what I'm doing wrong?

This is an example from one of my crafting recipes. Declare the item/block first

ItemStack purpleIngot = new ItemStack(ModItems.purpleIngot);
ItemStack stick = new ItemStack(Items.stick);

GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack(ModItems.purpleAxe), "xx ", "xy ", " y ",
                'x', purpleIngot, 'y', stick);

Update:

Getting obsidian for a recipe.

Should be functional for your recipe.

ItemStack obsidian = new ItemStack(Blocks.obsidian);
ItemStack redDiamondGem = new ItemStack(ModItems.RedDiamondGem);
ItemStack redStoneDust = new ItemStack(Items.redstone);

GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack((ModItems.RedDiamondGem), "ror", "rdr", "ror",
'r', redStoneDust, 'd', redDiamondGem, 'o', obsidian));

That is all not needed.

The last example you gave is equivalent to this:

GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack(ModItems.RedDiamondGem),
        "ror",
        "rdr",
        "ror",
        'r', Items.redstone, 'd', ModItems.RedDiamondGem, 'o', Blocks.obsidian));

I realize that, I just do it that way so when I want to use those Items in other recipes, I have them available.

as I understand it Blocks.obsidian is the block(like the block when it is placed in the world) and I need the way to refer to the itemblock obsidian (the item in your inventory)

Item stacks (and thus recipes) already do the conversion.

how would I change a recipe to create multiple outputs (like a diamond block into 9 diamonds?)

In the itemstack for the output you put the quantity of the item.

I'm back from being gone for... I think its been about a year. I'm pretty sure nobody remembers me, but hello anybody who does!

Okay, let me explain every bit of this to you.

GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack(ITEM, QUANTITY, META-DATA), "123", "456", "789", '1', ITEM/BLOCK, etc...);

ITEM = The item OR block you wish to add.

QUANTITY = Amount of that item OR block.

META-DATA = Meta-data of the item and or block

"123", "456", "789" = Corresponding on the crafting grid. 1 = left, 2 = mid, 3 = right. Each seperate one is a new line. Ex 456 is in the middle and 789 is on the bottom.

'1', ITEM/BLOCK = You need one of these for every (different) character in the recipe. The second part is the item or block it stands for.

Ex:

GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Items.stick, 3), "121", "131", "121", '1', Blocks.wood, '2', Items.diamond, '3', Items.carrot);

This will make a recipe for 3 stick by using wood, diamonds, and carrots. Just place them in the order shown.

The recipe to make this is now:

TOP: Wood, Diamond, Wood

MIDDLE: Wood, Carrot, Wood

BOTTOM: Wood, Diamond, Wood

You told him how to do it a bit better than me.smiley.gif

All though I was trying to refrain from doing that and having him research it himself. I mean theres tons of tutorials for this.

    • My name is Richie Leo, and I’m sharing this message with a heart full of gratitude and hope. Several months ago, I was a victim of a devastating online scam that cost me a staggering $873,463. I was devastated, confused, and had nearly given up on ever recovering my money — until I came across Wizard George Cyber Service. Through their exceptional cyber recovery expertise and deep investigative skills, Wizard George and his team were able to trace, track, and recover the full amount that was stolen from me. Their professionalism, speed, and transparency truly amazed me. If you’re reading this and you’ve been scammed — whether it’s crypto, investment fraud, or any kind of online theft — don’t give up. I strongly recommend reaching out to Wizard George Cyber Service. 📧 Em: wizardgeorgecyberservice(AT) g m a l L. C o M

    • I tried updating the mods in my modpack which caused incompatibilities so i have tried to revert them back to their older versions i was using before. In the logs it doesnt show me any clear incompatibilities except for tfmg & entity texture features, but when i try to remove those it still doesn't work. I have tried removing the forge-client.toml file which was a suggestion i found on  a few other posts. This is the log file i get. [inline log removed] Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
    • I don't use KubeJS, never even heard of it. But after doing what "Ugdhar" suggested earlier in this post with the "config/Mekanism/generator-storage.toml", I tried going into an individual save's serverconfig folder, and just deleting everything except the parcool folder (I have that mod installed.) Then, a bit of loading and temporary freezing later, seems to have worked. Even when quitting to menu and loading back in, or also when quitting to menu, exiting to desktop, and re-launching MC, choose a save and loading it.
