This code (supposedly)worked in 1.7.10, but I can't find any way to update it to 1.8. Anyone have any ideas?

@SubscribeEvent
public void renderCape(RenderPlayerEvent event){
	if(event.entityPlayer instanceof AbstractClientPlayer){
		((AbstractClientPlayer) event.entityPlayer).func_152121_a(Type.CAPE, new ResourceLocation("modid:textures/player/cape/cape.png"));
	}
}

func_152121_a does not exist in 1.8, and I can't find anything with the same parameters, or any other way to do it.

Because of the new Mojang EULA, only Mojangsters can have capes. You have to find something else for your mod.

Find me where it says that, I read the entire thing and didn't see where it says I am not allowed to render a cape on a player. Here is the link for convenience: https://account.mojang.com/documents/minecraft_eula

Also, note to whoever designs the website, an Un-Thank button would be nice.

Okay, that isn't quite the EULA but it is still a pretty clear statement of what they feel they want to own exclusively so I guess would be considered an extension of the EULA.

Note they're not saying you can't render things on a player, and theoretically you could make your own cape-like stuff to render, but obviously they've chosen to block out interacting with the official cape system. Interesting...

In theory you could render a thing that looks exactly like a cape, as long as you didn't call it a cape.

But really at that point, you may as well "add another decorative item instead of capes."
