Ok, so I was looking through my key bindings code when I found something a bit questionable.

 	@SubscribeEvent
    public void onKeyInput(InputEvent.KeyInputEvent event) {
        if(KeyBindings.start.isPressed()){
        	PlayerUtils.startPlayer(Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer);
        }
    }

The event itself isn't the problem, Minecraft.getMinecraft().thePlayer is the questionable part. That is client side code right? So I guess what I'm getting at is the question above: Are events client side or server side?

Most events are referenced on both sides, but since the server can't pick up on a specific player's key presses, it should never technically get called on the server. It would probably be a good idea to insert a check just to be safe though.

If I ever say something stupid, or simply incorrect, please excuse me. I don't know anything about 1.8 modding, and I don't know much about entities either, But I try to help when I can.

Ok so how do I insert a check for that?

if(FMLCommonHandler.instance().getSide().equals(Side.CLIENT)){
    //do client side stuff here
}

Be wary though, although I have never had problems with it, I have heard of people having issues where it returns true on an integrated server.

Ok, that will do. I guess if it has those problems it will just have an error.

Edit: Oh wait, on the event could I add a @SideOnly(Side.CLIENT) annotation? Would that work?

No.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for the help everyone.
