Posted May 2, 201510 yr I'm wondering how to use Minecraft's Timer class. I want an int to go down every second, but I don't know how to do that. I know to do this I need Minecraft's Timer class, but I don't know how to use it. I know that might lag, but it won't run all the time, don't worry.
May 2, 201510 yr If you are refering to net.minecraft.util.Timer 1st of all - it's client only, and no - you DON'T use it. It's internal MC class. If you need something to run every sec you use ServerTickEvent. 1.7.10 is no longer supported by forge, you are on your own.
May 2, 201510 yr There is nothing special about a counter. All you need is an int field that you increase (or decrease) each game tick and then check if it made it to a certain value you desire. In Minecraft the tick happens 20 times per second, you need to count up or down to 20. What class do you want this timer in? If it is your own custom entity or something, there may be update methods that are called once per tick and you can put the code in there. Otherwise, like Ernio suggests, you can use a tick event like ServerTickEvent. Check out my tutorials here: http://jabelarminecraft.blogspot.com/
May 3, 201510 yr I'm using a TileEntity. Does updateEntity() get called every tick? Yes. And if you'd looked at the Furnace you'd know that. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
