im trying to set a certain things recipe for a block but i can't figure out how to make it diorite or use lapis here is a preview of it:

 

GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack(kierablocks.forgoten_artifact), new Object[]{" k ","lcl","ddd", 'k', kierablocks.kierablock, 'l', Items.dye, 'c', kieraitems.chalkdust, 'd', Blocks.stone});

You would have to use ItemStacks to specify metadata.

is there a way for it to just do Items.dye.damage(3) or something like that to change it to lapis.

 

no you have to do

new ItemStack(item, qty, meta)

I will let you fill in the specifics. How to implement it should be self-explanatory.

What are you talking about? I use ItemStacks to get metadata with crafting recipes all the time.

thats metadata is for the output item not the input ones sorry. I've tryed it out and wont work on my end.

Have you tried not declaring the Object array? I don't use Object arrays in my crafting recipes and I can use ItemStacks for input just fine.

You don't even know what you are talking about, do you? You can use this perfectly fine:

GameRegistry.addRecipe(new ItemStack(Blocks.stone), "###", "###", "###", '#', new ItemStack(Items.dye, 1, 3));

That recipe will create a stone block using 9 lapis lazuli.
