Mo Creatures and Custom Mod Spawner not installing

I've followed all the instructions, I have GuiAPI and Forge working fine, but when I put the .zip files of Custom Mob Spawner and Mo Creatures mods into the mods folder of .minecraft, the mods won't work in game.  Someone please help, getting really frustrating!
