[1.8] Event when item hits a block

Hey, is there an event to detect when an item (e.g. a stick) hits a block (e.g. thrown by a player)?

public class MyBlock extends Block {
        @Override
public void onEntityCollidedWithBlock(World world, BlockPos pos, IBlockState state, Entity entity) {
	System.out.println("collide event");
}
}

This works fine for players and animals/monsters, but not for items..

Hopper doesn't count. The hopper checks every tick to see if there are any items above itself, which is not useful here.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

The method that the OP is using will work if the block has a bounding box smaller than a full block. An offset of 0.01 on each side is enough to allow entities (including items) to collide with the block.

Make sure you're actually overriding

Block#onEntityCollidedWithBlock(World, BlockPos, IBlockState, Entity)

(called when any entity collides with the block) and not

Block#onEntityCollidedWithBlock(World, BlockPos, Entity)

(called when an entity that returns

true

from

Entity#canTriggerWalking

walks on top the block).

This basic demonstration spams the log when an item collides with the block.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

This doesn't work, not with players, items, mobs.. The event seems not to be called..

It works for me in the development environment and the deobfuscated client.

Are you sure you're actually creating and registering an instance of your

Block

class? Does it have a bounding box smaller than a full block?

Yes, I forgot to set the bounds. But now, the border line is smaller (it disappeared). Can I set this manually without changing the bounds?

Yes, override

Block#getSelectedBoundingBox

to return an

AABB

with the

BlockPos

's x/y/z as the minimum coordinates and x/y/z + 1.0 as the maximum coordinates (like this).
