Posted October 7, 201510 yr Hello, I'm new to Minecraft but not new to computer science. A few weeks ago I had set up a Minecraft 1.8.8 vanilla server. I have now played for a while there with my nephew and we have build a nice little world. Recently I got excited about Open Computers. I would like to show it to my nephew. But I have found that I need to go back to version 1.8.0 in order to be able to "forge" our server. But our world was generated by a 1.8.8 vanilla server. I've just tried it. I saw some error messages about unknown stats attributes (e.g. "stat.enderchestOpened"). This stat data was added in version 1.8.2, see: http://minecraft-de.gamepedia.com/Vollversion_1.8#1.8.2 While Forge is based on version 1.8.0 this behavior is hardly surprising. After the first start the error messages no longer appear. I think the 1.8.0 server simply deletes the unknown stats and that's it. But is this really all? Can I use a 1.8.0 server for a 1.8.8 world? Or will this result sooner or later in errors which I do not see now? After my first impression everything appears to function normally. The only thing that worries me are the unpatched vulnerabilities of the 1.8.0 server. Okay, I've hide it behind a firewall. So, is it harmless, what I'm doing? Or do I endanger the data consistency of our 1.8.8 Minecraft world? Thank you for reading this! Maybe you have an answer for me. Kuhdolf
October 7, 201510 yr 1.8.8 worlds should work just fine, they havent changed the save format just added some options. 1.8.8 support is coming Cpw and I just need to finish re-working Fernflower -.- I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. November 17, 20159 yr Fernflower changes are 'done' {good enough where we are comfortable making a MC release, still some changes we want to make but they can wate.} Cpw and Fry are working on updating Forge itself you can see the work being done here: https://github.com/MinecraftForge/MinecraftForge/compare/noci-1.8.8 Once cpw and fry are satisfied they are done good enough 1.8.8 builds will commence. So yes the answer is Soon I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated. Consider supporting the team on Patreon
