Custom Server Death Messages?

I'm working on a multiplayer mod that (among other things) adds some ways to get yourself killed.  I would like to add custom death messages for the server to print when someone dies in one of these ways.  I haven't been able to find any instructions but I imagine it is rather straightforeward.  So, how do I do it?
