Posted May 4, 20169 yr I'm recently working on my custom tile entity container, and I'm a bit confused with the markDirty() method in TileEntity class. is there anyone who can tell me what it does? I've read the description, it says: "for tile entities, ensures the chunk containing the tile entity is saved to the disk later - the game wont think it hasn't changed and skip it" So when and where do I need to use this method? What happens if I don't? Thanks and i apologize for my poor English
May 4, 20169 yr When information within the TileEntity is modified and it needs to be saved to the file when unloaded. Like if you have a container and you add/remove/modify/move/whatever an item inside it.
May 4, 20169 yr Like if you have a container and you add/remove/modify/move/whatever an item inside it. Not really, the item-modification methods (like setStackInSlot) in the TE should do that. Well don't they do it through markDirty?
May 4, 20169 yr Yes, but it's not up to the Container to do that. Err - whoops, I badly worded that. By "container" I meant a TileEntity which contains stuff (like a Chest), not a Container class.
May 4, 20169 yr Yes, but it's not up to the Container to do that. container != Container Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.
