Posted May 13, 20169 yr So i'm a relatively new modder and i cant get my item to have a texture Main: http://pastebin.com/BDsZrqbZ Item class: http://pastebin.com/L9CcgGiS Proxies: http://pastebin.com/eUFJr1YM and http://pastebin.com/7bchgn6J .json file: http://pastebin.com/UMZZHGAe thanks
May 13, 20169 yr There should be an error in the log telling you why the model/texture wasn't loaded. If you don't know what to make of it, upload the FML log (logs/fml-client-latest.log) to Gist and link it here. Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

May 13, 20169 yr [22:40:29] [Client thread/ERROR] [FML/]: Exception loading model for variant voidmod:void_nugget#inventory for item "voidmod:void_nugget", normal location exception: ... Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: voidmod:models/item/void_nugget.json The model file doesn't exist at the location you've specified. Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
May 13, 20169 yr Author i actually commented out that code because the only one i am working on is void_ingot so once i can get that working i can do the rest
May 13, 20169 yr There are two additional errors being suppressed because it already logged the maximum number of errors for your domain. The default is 5, you can increase this by setting the forge.verboseMissingModelLoggingCount system property. The log does say this about void_ingot : [22:40:28] [Client thread/DEBUG] [FML/]: Item json isn't found for 'voidmod:void_ingot#inventory', trying to load the variant from the blockstate json So the error is still that it can't find the item model you've specified. Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
May 13, 20169 yr Post a new log now that you've commented out most of the items. Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
May 13, 20169 yr Author Will do but might have to wait till i get home im in classes right now but i should be able to grab it
May 13, 20169 yr Author okay so I completely reorganized my code and now it is actually crashing with this log http://pastebin.com/FCNSb6jx
May 13, 20169 yr java.lang.IllegalStateException: Attempted to set registry name with existing registry name! New: voidmod:void_ingot Old: minecraft:void_ingot at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.registry.IForgeRegistryEntry$Impl.setRegistryName(IForgeRegistryEntry.java:54) at net.minecraftforge.fml.common.registry.IForgeRegistryEntry$Impl.setRegistryName(IForgeRegistryEntry.java:72) at com.void6425.Voidmod.Item.VoidModItems.init(VoidModItems.java:26) at com.void6425.Voidmod.proxy.ClientProxy.preInit(ClientProxy.java:14) at com.void6425.Voidmod.Main.preInit(Main.java:30) The exception is pretty clear about what you did wrong: You tried to set the registry name of an Item twice. Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
May 13, 20169 yr The exception's stacktrace shows where the second call to setRegistryName is coming from. In your original code, registerItem also calls setRegistryName . Edit: This wasn't entirely accurate, see Draco's post below. Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
May 13, 20169 yr Lets follow this through, shall we? void_ingot = registerItem(new Item(), "void_ingot").setRegistryName(Resources.MODID, "void_ingot").setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabMaterials); So first we call registerItem(Item, string) which redirects us to registerItem(Item, string, CreativeTabs) . What's that do? GameRegistry.register(item, new ResourceLocation(Resources.MODID, name)); Ah, well. There's your problem. This method takes the item, gives it a registry name (if it doesn't have one), and registers it. Then you come along and call setRegistryName on the return object. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
May 13, 20169 yr Author Thanks. I have no idea why i did not see that i guess i was just getting too frustrate.
May 13, 20169 yr Step 1: Set registry name Step 2: Register item That's pretty simple. Even looking at the first line of your Items class I see this: Step 1: Register item Step 2: Set registry name Which is ass-backwards and should have been obvious.
