Why does wool? Wool has the one texture by one block.

 

No, actually it doesn't.  Wool is 1 block with 16 textures differentiated by metadata.

 

Or you could look at the Furnace or the Log.  Furnace uses 3 textures and displays them on different sides while the log does a combination of both.

You mean how to have multiple icons for different block faces in the same PNG file? Don't. Just use separate files, all the icons will be stitched together by MC anyways.

It is not comfortable. I have to create a 6 textures, it is easier to make one texture and algorithm to divide the parties.

Maybe it is slightly easier now, but if you ever want to update past 1.7.10 it won't be. Just make separate textures, it's not hard.
