Hey, I tried to display a random item description among a pre-defined message list. It doesn't works so much well because instead of displaying one message, the description is blinking, displaying all the predefined messages at each second.

Here is my code :

@Override
    public void addInformation(ItemStack stack, EntityPlayer player, List list, boolean par4)
    {
    	String[] randMessages = new String[]{"Alpha", "Bravo", "Charlie"};

        String randMessage = randMessages[player.getRNG().nextInt(randMessages.length)];

        list.add(EnumChatFormatting.RED + randMessage);
    }

Does anyone know the solution?

Thank you so much,

Best regards

Maybe add a public variable InfoAdded = false to the Item Class and check for it in the Add Info method

As mentioned by diesieben07, that will not work.

Items are Singletons. You change a variable in the Item-class for one item, you change it for all.

This also goes for Blocks. Change one, change them all.

Data can only be "stored" in these, using either Meta-data (4 byte max for blocks) or using the itemstack's ability to store

NBTTagCompounds

.

@ratepenade

I'd recommend saving the wanted string to NBT, and then grab that NBT in

Item#addInformation

.
