List<String> list = new ArrayList<>();
list.add(String.valueOf(currStack.getDisplayName()));
list.add("$" + (String.valueOf(tile.getItemCost(slot))));

FontRenderer font = stack.getItem().getFontRenderer(stack);
net.minecraftforge.fml.client.config.GuiUtils.preItemToolTip(stack);
this.drawHoveringText(list, x, y, (font == null ? fontRendererObj : font));
net.minecraftforge.fml.client.config.GuiUtils.postItemToolTip();

Try adding the cost after the tooltip event, as NEI might tinker with that.

Also, not that you should, but you should probably use JEI instead of NEI, because NEI is doing some unnecessary core-modding which JEI doesn't. And as we all know, core-modding is bad.

Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! Make a thread on the appropriate board for support.

1.7.10 and older versions of Minecraft are no longer supported due to it's age! Update to the latest version for support.

I think, however, that WAILA relies on NEI, and there is not a WAILA equivalent for JEI.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Waila converted NEI to an optional dependency towards the end of 1.7.10 (here) and then removed entirely in 1.8.8 (here).

Unfortunately Waila isn't really being actively developed any more, but there are two main alternatives:

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
