Installing Forge Server(s)

Recommended Posts

This is for universal and Windows installer.

Version is the latest build for 1.11.2

When I launch one of the Forge 1.11.2 installers and select install server, then a directory, it downloads some files as it should and then finishes.

It leaves a installer.log file behind, which says: http://pastebin.com/tEYAAyPF [403 for minecraft.net]

This leads to following console output (no log file saved): http://pastebin.com/69CD2dA6

The Rules and EAQ thread is outdated since it links to a nonexistent Cauldron forum (which some users have said before, but it seems like nobody cared to update the thread). Since I have a problem with 1.11.2, I am permitted to post here. However, if someone wants to go the extra mile for me, installing a Cauldron server on 1.6 and 1.7 fails. More in spoiler

However it might be that the issues are linked to each other?

[spoiler=Cauldron]

Version: 1.7.10

Other than my Forge 1.11.2 installation there is no installer.log.

When doing the same installation procedure, then starting, console outputs are even saved in a log file :o which states: fml-server-latest.log > http://pastebin.com/hz7yPSvi ; latest.log > http://pastebin.com/DseQZRfc

Version: 1.6.4

Doesn't work either, should be about the same. ForgeModLoader-server-0.log > http://pastebin.com/BWaPSspk

Funny enough, MCPC+ (which doesn't use a libraries folder) runs on version 1.5.2, however on 1.6.4 it says it requires Java 7 (lol)

Don't even start about Sponge, SpongeForge is from 1.10 to latest, which isn't enough for some modpacks, that's why I need to get Cauldron running for 1.6 and 1.7; unless there is an alternate server software that features FML and bukkit for these and later versions.

I guess there's no way to get mods and plugins combined on versions 1.8 and 1.9, or is there?

And, if you would like to go the extra extra mile, any hints on how to get the combination of executable server.jar plus libraries folder working with MultiCraft panel? I don't think it's too hard, however I haven't thought about it yet, so if anyone has already done it, it would spare some of my time :)

As always, more information on request

This has nothing to do with your server or anything like that. The log shows you installed the client. Hence why optional files weren't downloaded, the Mojang launcher downloads those files. As for the 403s that's intentional because we try the compressed form of the library first which the Mojang servers don't have.

Just tested on windows, works just fine as it's my main dev env.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Well, then the UI might be broken, I chose the "install server" option. On my server I used nogui --installServer. Should have the same result.

Why would you intentionally make an installer try to download files that are 403? Why? Where's the point?

Anyways, I'm now running Sponge, Cauldron, Forge Server using the same libraries, which is good. And it works, apart from MCPC+/Cauldron 1.6.4/1.7.2.
