Need help, annoying error

Ive been trying for a full day now to get the 1.7.10 loader working, but everything i try gives the same message: "The directory is missing a launcher profile. Please run the minecraft launcher first". Ive tried the classic uninstall and reinstall, running the launcher over and over and over again with different profiles, downloading another version of the 1.7.10 loader installer, and even muddling about with some of the folders in a desperate attempt. I've since uninstalled and reinstalled a second time to repair any damage i may have done, and I now possess the intact vanilla game, and none of what I've tried has worked. Im especially miffed because i was able to get the mod loader working fine with over 28 mods on a different PC, with the same Minecraft account I've had since 2014. Ive even scoured Google, and even this forum for a solution, but nothing has worked. Can anyone help me?

I would advise upgrading to a newer version. 1.7.10 is no longer supported, once a moderator sees this thread it will get locked stating as much.
