Hi there!

I have a block that HAS* to get its registry name changed but the thing is, it's going to ruin a lot of world-saves!

Is it possible to change a registry name while the world loads? Here's what I have in mind:

When you load a world, look for 'registryName1' in all block names (I think that block registry names are stored in something) and then replace it with 'registryName2'.

Is there an event for something like that?

* The block's registry name is used for a special mechanic, it's too complicated to explain what it does but the block's registry name HAS TO change.

There's an event for this, MissingMappingEvent? Something like that.

You don't change the registry name at runtime, you just give it the new name and then when the event is fired (which will be fired for any missing mapping) you can hook in go "oh, that name, that's X now" and Forge will update the old stuff to the new.

RegistryEvent.MissingMappings<T extends IForgeRegistryEntry<T>>, where T is the registry type you want to remap (e.g. Block, Item, Biome).

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

Thanks for the exact name Choonster, I couldn't remember and wasn't in a position to look it up.
