I've been doing Java for a couple of years now for fun, I'm currently reading This Book (Minecraft Modding with Forge). It seems like a good book except some parts are out of date (They used version 1.8). I've been searching for current API documentation to deal with Chat. Specifically the ChatComponentText class. I cannot find it in the net.minecraft.util package anymore using the latest version of Forge. Is there an updated API List I can read to make my changes? Its kinda frustrating that there is no "Official" current version API document for both Forge and Minecraft classes, packages, etc. I've already checked This Forge API which seems very complete but it is incorrect about the net.minecraft packages.

Any help would be appreciated!

My code is as follows for my current project (Incompletish)

package org.devoxx4kids.forge.mods;
import net.minecraftforge.event.world.BlockEvent.BreakEvent;
import net.minecraftforge.fml.common.eventhandler.SubscribeEvent;
import net.minecraft.util.ChatComponentText; - This doesn't exist anymore?
import net.minecraft.util.EnumChatFormatting; - This doesn't exist either?

public class BlockBreakMessage {
    @SubscribeEvent
    public void sendMessage(BreakEvent event) {
        event.
            getPlayer()
            .addChatMessage(
                    new ChatComponentText(
                            EnumChatFormatting.GOLD + "You broke a block!"));
    }
}

ITextComponent (or one of its subclasses, such as TextComponentString) are what you're looking for.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.
