[1.12] Upgrade to the new version

I plan to update the mod from 1.7.10 to 1.12+. And in the spring it is planned to update 1.13.
Because I have such a question ... And how much different are the new versions from the inside? (1.8-1.12)
If directly, is it worth waiting for 1.13? Or can I start now to go to 1.12?

There's a boat load of changes, plus an additional two truck loads and a fuckton between 1.7.10 and 1.12.

I suggest starting the upgrade down, and possibly even doing so for an intermediary version (e.g. 1.10) so that you can get a handle on the changes in steps.

 

Or you could literally set your code on fire and start from scratch, as it's pretty much worthless now.

Thank you! I'm planning to start re-writing the code. The question is, will not I have to rewrite the mod for 1.13 if I now rewrite the mod for 1.12?

1.12 -> 1.13 will not be as big as 1.7 -> 1.12, there's only one system I'm aware of that will see a massive overhaul, and that's item metadata, but at this time, no one knows how its going to be handled by modders.

 

(Or at least, I've not seen any info)
