Posted March 31, 20187 yr I've got a npc that is smaller than a grass block and if the npc is inside of it I can't hit with a sword. Is there anyway to make a sword that would ignore the grass block?
March 31, 20187 yr Probably not. Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice. Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked. DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
March 31, 20187 yr I think it is possible using similar technique as an extended reach weapon. Basically, you need the client side to do custom ray-tracing where you would ignore the grass block, and then send custom packet (or maybe attack keybind) to server where actual attack gets processed. I have a tutorial on extended reach here: http://jabelarminecraft.blogspot.com/p/minecraft-modding-extending-reach-of.html It would take a bit of work, but I think it is possible. April 1, 20187 yr There is a mod that releases its source code that ignores grass. Maybe look into the mods source. https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/swingthroughgrass
April 1, 20187 yr Yeah, that example is good. It actually avoids having to send the custom packet because it handles the case where the grass block has been clicked on on the server side and then checks if there is an entity in that space as well.
