I have an Events class that needs to extend EntityLiving. However, when I attempt to register it in my Registry class init method, like this,

Spoiler

MinecraftForge.EVENT_BUS.register(new Events());

it gives an error and says "Events (World) in Events cannot be applied." This is the super in the Events class that is causing the problem.

Spoiler

public Events(World worldIn) {
    super(worldIn);
}

And just to clarify, I am not registering a new entity, just a class that extends one. I have read over the forge docs in regards to registering, but I don't know if I'm overlooking something. Thanks.

Post the whole class please.

Yep, sorry. Here is the entire Events class. I haven't actually edited a mob's AI yet, because I want to get the class registered and setup first.

Spoiler

public class Events extends EntityLiving {

    public Events(World worldIn) {
        super(worldIn);
    }

    // code will go here
}

And if you needed the Main code, here is the init registration in Main.

Spoiler

@Mod.EventHandler
public static void init(FMLInitializationEvent event) {
    MinecraftForge.EVENT_BUS.register(new Events());
}

Because, for example, I'm writing a method that checks if an EntityCow is a baby (this.isChild, so actually it should extend EntityCow, not EntityLiving). I can't figure out any other way to do it. And yes, I tried to pass an instance of world, but it's not liking it.

The method isChild is public there is no need to extend the entity to use it. What event are you trying to use? What are you trying to accomplish from an end user perspective?

That's funny, I thought it was restricted to classes that extend EntityLiving, don't know how I missed that. Basically the event I'm trying to use is the right click event, for the custom cow milking mechanic I made, and I'm wanting to check to make sure you can't milk a baby cow, that's all its for.

However, I created a variable,

Spoiler

EntityPlayer player;
EntityCow cow;

And then instantiated it in the method.

Spoiler

@SubscribeEvent
public void onEntityRightClicked(PlayerInteractEvent.EntityInteract event) {

    player = event.getEntityPlayer();
    EnumHand hand = EnumHand.MAIN_HAND;
    ItemStack itemstack = player.getHeldItem(hand);
    cow = (EntityCow) event.getEntity();

    if (itemstack.getItem() == ItemInit.BOTTLE && !player.capabilities.isCreativeMode && !cow.isChild()) {
        // code
    }
}

But it's throwing an unexpected error thrown error on right click.

What error? And you aren't checking if the entity that is being right clicked is a cow or not. And why are you storing them as fields in the class and not the method?

Yes, sorry I didn't post the whole class, I was editing it. Here.

Spoiler

@SubscribeEvent
public void onEntityRightClicked(PlayerInteractEvent.EntityInteract event) {

    EntityPlayer player = event.getEntityPlayer();
    EnumHand hand = EnumHand.MAIN_HAND;
    ItemStack itemstack = player.getHeldItem(hand);
    EntityCow cow = (EntityCow) event.getEntity();

    if (event.getTarget() instanceof EntityCow) {

        if (itemstack.getItem() == ItemInit.BOTTLE && !player.capabilities.isCreativeMode && !cow.isChild()) {

                player.playSound(SoundEvents.ENTITY_COW_MILK, 1.0F, 1.0F);

                itemstack.shrink(1);

                if (itemstack.isEmpty()) {

                    player.setHeldItem(hand, new ItemStack(ItemInit.MILK));
                } else if (!player.inventory.addItemStackToInventory(new ItemStack(ItemInit.MILK))) {

                    player.dropItem(new ItemStack(ItemInit.MILK), false);
                }
        }
    }
}

And the error, but I don't know what to do if I can't cast EntityCow.

Check if it’s an entity cow first?

if(entity instanceof EntityCow)...

EntityCow cow = (EntityCow) event.getEntity();

Move this down below the instance of check and change the getEntity() to getTarget()
