Forge not Installing correctly

I just got minecraft working, but forge just doesn't want to install onto my computer. I am trying to figure out what is going on and I keep getting the same results. My java is up to date, and I'm trying to do 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 modding and none of the forges want to load. All I get is that it allows me to install but then I get an error message saying 'This program might not have installed correctly." It gives me the options for to run the program with odl compatibility or launch troubleshooting. I tried both and none of the downloads will work. I even tried running it as an admin and nothing. I need help.

I don't recall Forge ever requiring compatibility mode and I'm worried you may have clicked on an ad rather than the Forge download button.

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

 

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

installer log is not a thing when it will not show up in the launcher at all. And screenshots are not an option. Look, I went to forge and when it got done downloading, i ran minecraft version 1.7.10. I made sure that I downloaded a forge for 1.7.10, the recommended version. And every time i run for it to install, it says its complete but it will not be in the launcher at all. I even tried others and it's doing that. I had a problem with Minecraft earlier and had to delete malware and now forge will not work correctly.

I can't give you a screenshot because my computer doesn't support that. I can't give you something that my computer will not allow. The menu is just 1.13.2, 1.13.1, 1.7.10. No forge. I tried running forge on INSTALL and it will not install. You people just can't seem to get that through the skulls. Close this topic. I'm not coming back.

Wut? Aren't you using Windows? I thought Windows had snipping tool since 95 or something.

 

Can you provide the installer log? It should be generated in the directory where you ran the forge installer.

It will not pop up. It says it gets complete and then nothing. Nada. Zilch. That is why I am here. It is not installing and I'm trying to figure out why yet you keep on asking me for stuff that are not downloaded onto my computer at all. It just comes up and says it's going to download the libraries, it downloads them but when I go to the launcher and to see if the forge version, there is nothing but regular version. I even ran the normal versions multiple times and saved them and still not getting anything.

It came with it but it will not allow it because it got corrupted to the point that even I can't delete it.

If you've managed to corrupt a feature of Windows you probably have bigger problems than being unable to install Forge, please prioritize getting those bigger issues fixed first.

I didn't corrupt it. It got itself corrupted and I just can't delete it.

Can you double check the directory/folder in which you've ran the forge installer?

When the forge installer is ran, it should generate a .log file which contains all the information about the install in the same directory.

The information in the log is crucial in figuring out what went wrong with the installation.

We will be able to help much more if you can provide the log.

How about this, if your keyboard has a key that says "Prt Scr" (Print Screen) or something similar, press that to copy your screen to your clipboard, then use Control + V to paste it here.

1. That is Minecraft's logs, not the forge installer's log. The installer's log should be in the same directory as the installer.

2. Just open them with a normal text editor. Notepad++ should also work.

That's the problem, there are no log for the forge installer. I can go to the downloads to and there will not be a .log there.

Click on the menu icon at the top right corner of the launcher, then in the dropdown menu click "Launcher options", and click "Add new".

A new page should appear with details about the new configuration. In the "Version" dropdown menu, scroll to the bottom and check if there is a version that has "forge" in it.
