Failing Forge Launcher OSX

Howdy,

 

I'm having a rather difficult time getting a modded 1.12.2 server set up and running, I've successfully run the most recent alpha and stable forge installer with no success.

 

System and software deets:

  OSX 10.14.4

  Minecraft 1.12.2

  Forge versions: 14.23.5.2768, 14.23.5.2838, 14.23.5.2837

  Java 10.0.2 (build 10.0.2 +13) x86_64 architecture

 

I've read somewhere that I need Java 8 to run the forge server, but that would fail to make sense as I can run a forge client in Java 10 with no trouble...

 

Here's the console log:

Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: java.base/jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoaders$AppClassLoader cannot be cast to java.base/java.net.URLClassLoader

I can't seem to expand the "... 6 more" with a -verbose

this is the only "debug" log I can think of, unless there's a separate file?

This is also legitimately everything that came out of the console

There is no log generated, this is everything I have on this particular issue

You must use Java 8 with Forge for 1.12.2 or earlier.
