Help with removing white fill in from block

[Herobrine_Copper]

I made a block that has properties of the sweet berry bush. I double checked that the texture that was being used was erased and the block works perfectly as it should when in a player's hand http://prntscr.com/q326t6 but fills in clear spots with white when placed http://prntscr.com/q327os. I checked the forum for a way to make it non opaque or translucent but both answers did nothing. This is my first mod.

BlockRenderLayer.CUTOUT_MIPPED, I think it's usually black though. Is your texture background white?

And is it a custom texture? If so, is background transparent, or white? If transparent then I would make a block class that extends BushBlock.

it is a custom texture the background is transparent and is there a tutorial for creating a block class
