Your data folder doesn't really exist. Well, it does, but only in source form. At runtime all that gets packaged up into the jar file, which does not have "folders" per say.

Take a look at this helper class of mine:

https://github.com/Draco18s/ReasonableRealism/blob/1.12.1/src/main/java/com/draco18s/hardlib/CogHelper.java

It loads xml files out of a location named "cog_config" (which is declared on line 54), line 56 shows how to get access to resources (note that if you do copy this file wholesale, you should declare your own package, class name, and fix all references to point to your own things).

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

I thought there is an elegant way to access the mod resources, maybe use a special folder in resources/data

...where do you think that folder is?

You want something out of assets, add "assets" to the path. You want data, add "data" to the path.

Yes, I am aware.

I don't see why the code I supplied won't work.

There is no current "data pack" feature that creates and registers blocks, if you want something like that, you're going to have to do it yourself.

Vanilla handles those via JsonReloadListener instances. Unfortunately, these need to be registered with the MinecraftServer instance (have fun getting a reference to one) and the thing you need to register with is private.

But if you manage that (note that my code is a Forge PR, so I can inject my manager directly), you pass the folder you care about to super and when the game loads, you get a list of resource locations found there.

    • Create a new instance and start with these mods - try different builds until you find a working combination Then add the rest of your mods one by one or in groups
    • It started crashed after I added Framework, curios API, and scorched guns mods. I tried to change framework version, but its still not working. But if i launch minecraft with this mod list, its work pretty good
    • I recently created a Minecraft server through Forge Server, in version 1.20.4, I installed the simple voice chat mode to talk to my friends, but it doesn't work, it says it's offline, apparently it's time to put a host port on it, We tried the local one, the one with the tunnel that is from playit.gg and nothing, how do I solve this?
    • I have a forge server with around 200 mods and I would like to have it available 24/7. But instead of constantly having to run the server on a dedicated machine, I want to create a second server that a player must join to start the main server. The second server would permanently run on a lightweight computer which would transfer a player to the main server (or start the main server and then transfer the player when it is offline). But the problem is that I cannot join the second server because "the server is missing the following mods [...]". Is it possible to ignore this error and just join the server? The second server does not need to have any mods (except for the handling of the transfer) because it should just act as a waiting room.
