Issues installing Forge

I have read and followed several how tos. the minecraft forge does not have the windows download option for my windows laptop. So I proceed to download it anyway and it doesn't work in any way shape or form.

It appears you have the correct file, but you must have java ( use Java 8 ) installed. If you do, try running Jarfix (google will find it for you), as it appears your system associates .jar files with an archive manager rather than the JVM.

I have "JavaSetup8u241.exe" downloaded then I click on it and have to reinstall it every time. Says "downloading java installer" but then it finishes I click on it once again and it opens the same "download java installer" again.

I have problem because i cant install forge 1.12.2 but other forges like 1.14.4 installed succesfully. I getting this same notification like when installing forge 1.14.4 "Succesfully installed cilent profil...…………." but really on minecraft launcher i didnt get my forge. Something is broken for me.

Where did you get your Java installer?

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

 

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.
