How to run ForgeGrade on OS X?

Recommended Posts

Am modding for 1.15.2 on MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 with Forge 31.1.0. How do I run the gradlew genEclipseRuns and gradlew eclipse commands I need to use this with Eclipse? When I try to run

cd ~/Desktop/ExampleMod/Examplemod
gradlew genEclipseRuns

it says, "Command not found." The tutorial I was using was for Windows, so does anyone know if I need to do something else?

What do you mean by "*nix"? And how do I specify that it's in the current directory?

(Sorry, but I'm a bit of a noob. I don't even understand events and threading yet.)

unix/linux, which macos is based on. And just prefix the command with ./ (dot-forwardslash) as I put in my last post :)

Try ./gradlew

*edit: and the reason the windows tutorial didn't say anything, is that windows/dos has always (to my knowledge anyway) checked in the currect folder/directory first when running a command, vs other OSes sticking to what's specified in the path.

do you know of any good tutorials on Java application programming? Stuff like events and listeners and stuff, and how to write them.

I do not unfortunately. If you know any oop languages, java is similar in a lot of ways, and looking through vanilla code and browsing the forums are good sources of how to do things.

Without programming knowledge, I would say just google java tutorials, and prepare to be bored while you write some text based programs to learn the basics. It'll suck, but it's how you get to the good stuff. :)
