So i followed a tutorial for custom items for 1.15 (whish is the version i use) and he said to do this in the en_US text file under the lang package:

{
    "item.testmod.test_item": "Test Item"
}

But it still won't work.

In the game itself the display name is: item.testmod.test_item.

pls help

First of all this is the wrong section. You would need to post this under "Modding Support". ;)

Make sure it's a .json file and not a normal .txt file. Check if you modid is really testmod and that the registryname of your item is set to test_item.

nope. it is a .json file, the mod id is testmod and the item id is test_item

Please post your code as a GitHub repo.

make sure your file is named "en_us.json".

no upper case and it has to be a json file

Because at this point there is so many things that can go wrong, and it would take ages for other people to guess one by one.

By seeing your code we can stop guessing in the dark and instead figure out what is wrong immediately.

An analogy that is popular on this forum: just like in real life doctors have to examine your body to figure out what is wrong; they can’t magically know what is wrong if all information they have is “doctor it hurts”.
