Larger than one block sized block?

I want to create a block that spans over multiple blocks when you place it, like a bed. I don't really know how and I'm pretty new to modding. The block I'm trying to make is 2x1x2 blocks.

Check out the code for the bed, and see how it does it, and use a similar approach.

Vanilla sources are one of the most valuable assets while modding, and can be viewed in the referenced libraries of your IDE.
