I am trying to get my foot into the world of minecraft modding. It seems like a huge shift happened relatively recently from 1.12 and 1.15. Are the tutorials for 1.12 going to all be completely useless to someone starting new in 1.15?

If so, can anyone recommend a good tutorial for getting the basics down? I understand items and blocks, but need a way to find out making things happen when someone right-clicks either on a block or with an item in hand, as well as how to override vanilla item functions and add special kinds of block menus (like containers, forges, enchanting, etc)

Not completely. There are some things that have changed, see https://gist.github.com/williewillus/353c872bcf1a6ace9921189f6100d09a

Most of what you'll run into is that names changed (so instead of ItemFood its now FoodItem) as well as a new registration process (DeferredRegister).

But worlgen has been overhauled and 1.12 info is useless. There's also been some changes in rendering.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
