Posted June 7, 20205 yr Anyone have any suggestions for a simple program that can show (more or less) what a texture will look like applied to a block in minecraft, without having to load up a whole minecraft instance? I did some light googling, but didn't find anything near the top, not to mention some out of date broken links from the minecraft forums. I quit there and came here, figuring since I'm not pressed for time or anything, and don't want to dig through piles of crappy apps and broken links, and possibly spyware. Open to multiple suggestions, the easier the better, the main purpose is so my nephew can create textures and quickly visualize them without having to load up a full MC instance. Thanks!
June 7, 20205 yr I'd recommend a modeling program like Blockbench, it's what I use for all the models in my mods. It has a built in brush tool for creating a texture, but I'll usually use Photoshop or something if I want the texture to look a bit better, if you're trying to make a default block model, I believe it's just a 16x16 cube, hope this helps! It's sad how much time mods spend saying "x is no longer supported on this forum. Please update to a modern version of Minecraft to receive support".

Thank you! I had thought I checked BlockBench, but evidently only got as far as downloading it lol. It looks like it should do just what I want
