Posted July 3, 20205 yr I currently have a LivingUpdateEvent where I want to generate a random number to determine an action and I want the random number to be the same between client and server. Is there an easy way to do this or will I have to use packets to send the data. Thanks in Advance. SR2610 | Nemesis Minecraft Modder | Planet Minecraft Moderator
July 3, 20205 yr As far as I know, you would need to send a packet. The method is called once on the server and once on the client so you would need to do data synchronization. Most likely, have the number determined on the server and send the number to all entities tracking the entity and itself on the client.

As I only need to generate the number once per entity, I'm using the UUID of the entity to seed the random number generator. Its probably not the perfect solution but it works well for what I'm doing. SR2610 | Nemesis Minecraft Modder | Planet Minecraft Moderator
