Hey there, I am pretty new to modding... Ok, I tell a lie... I am a total noob at modding. This is my first ever mod, and so far I haven't encountered any issues.

But here is the problem(s) the second one isn't a must, but the first one is pretty vital :P

Ok, so I have my mob, named dragoone, which is a scaled down Enderdragon, which spawns in hilly biomes at night. I have the model working, not tested out the natural spawning yet, but if I encounter an issue with it then I will returneth to the forums. But here is the issue. The mob doesn't have a texture. Now I am using a custom enderdragon texture file for the dragoone, but when I set the path to the file using: this.texture = "/Minecraft/src/jordsta95/Mod/dragoone.png";

the texture doesn't appear on the mob. Am I doing something wrong with that?

The other issue is getting the mob to drop a custom item. The item is called DragonScale and is located in my main java file (Everything_and_More_Mod). But I have been unable to get the mob to drop any item, whether it be an item that I have added or a vanilla item. Here is the code I have used, on guidance from a tutorial:

protected int getDropItemId(){

return Everything_and_More_Mod.DragonScale.itemID;

Any help would be great :)

Thanks

-Jordan

Why bother?

Well, for the texture + model, are you using minecraft's enderdragon model? If not, I'd recommend using techne and creating your own texture, it would probably be easier. If not, then the texture might not be the right size for the model.

Posted
I set the path to the file using: this.texture = "/Minecraft/src/jordsta95/Mod/dragoone.png";

Assuming that the "this.texture" is actually being used by the renderer (tip: not always) then you need to specify the source like this:

this.texture = "/jordsta95/Mod/dragoone.png";

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Still didn't work :/

The file is located here: C:\Users\UKGC\Desktop\Mod\MCP\src\minecraft\jordsta95\Mod with the filename: dragoone.png If that helps.

I think I just found it! :D

Try and give it the entire file locations as in (C:Usernamehere/locationoffolder/foldername/picurename)

Which will fail as soon as you try to distribute your mod. :|

Ok I have the texture rendering now. Dunno what was wrong with it... the path I used is "/mob/dragoone.png"

Just putting this in here because I am sure that someone else may have this error. So make sure not to capitalise the M on mob or it won't work...

thanks for your help guys :)

    • So am trying to make a custom 1.19.2 modpack and everything works until I add Oculus. I have tried Oculus+Embedium and Oculus+Rubdium and by themselves they work but as soon as I add anything it crashes no matter what it is. The modpack works fine with just Embedium and Rubdium. Can you help me to see if this is something i can fix or do i just have to deal with not having shaders. Here is the crash log. Thank you for your time. https://paste.ee/p/WXfNZ24K

    • What do I do now when it says "1 error"?
    • Hello everyone new here how are you all?
    • I haven't tested it but under https://minecraft.wiki/w/Items_model_definition it says now:   So I guess the resource location must have changed with 1.24.4, which means you need to move your models/item/ to the new source. But as I said I haven't tested this so it also may be that this wont work. Nevertheless give it a try      EDIT (important) So now I tested it and found out how it works   Let the model files (e.g. the .json from blockbench) within "assets/<your_mod_id>/models/item" In addition to that do the following: Every model you added will need a new file under "assets/<your_mod_id>/items" That file is also a JSON and looks like this: { "model": { "type": "minecraft:model", "model": "your_mod_id:item/custom_item" } } - "type" can be minecraft:model, minecraft:composite, minecraft:condition, minecraft:select, minecraft:range_dispatch, minecraft:empty, minecraft:bundle/selected_item or minecraft:special. (In most cases you would need minecraft:model) - "model" is the path to your actual model for this item. For example the value above would point to "assets/your_mod_id/models/item/custom_item"
