How to make sure that two BlockStates are the same block

This may be a terribly simple question, but how do you make sure that one BlockState and one BlockState are the same block? So, for example, where are the methods that return true if both BlockStates are oak_planks, one oak_planks and one white_wool false?

state1.getBlock() == state2.getBlock()

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.
