I just download forge and hooked it up to minecraft today and im looking to get some mods.

I tried downloading some but it download as an internet explorer file instead of a java file.

How do I fix this?

and yes, I have java downloaded already.

    you should be getting mods from the curseforge website
    then simply put the .jar files inside the .minecraft/mods folder
