You're not the only one I've seen with this issue, what's strange is the installer seems to be failing to extract the jar, but is saying that it was successful, or rather, NOT saying that it failed. And to confirm: YES, the launcher is SUPPOSED to fail at downloading the Forge jar, but only if it TRIES to... which shouldn't be happening.

It's not supposed to be downloaded, it's embedded into the installer which extracts it into the proper spot.

Is this a situation where the installer complains that it was unable to download libraries or it goes through fine and you can't launch it?

More Player Models appears to be broken, if you do not have the latest version try updating. Crayfish's Furniture mod has a known bug that is currently fixed in development but has not been fixed in a release yet, the workaround is disabling the welcome message from the server's cfm.cfg, located in the config folder.
