  1. Mainly because it's better to be more strict then it is to be lenient. Combined with trying to make it clear to modders that different block states are different blocks. {A concept that Mojang is trying to force in code for a long time} Its more 'We want it to always refresh, but vanilla breaks that sometimes, so special case vanilla'
  2. Deleted spam and revoked GoreFalcon's post access for 6 days. As a final word on the subject. It is a rule that 1.7.10 {AKA: Really old versions that are no longer in development} do not get active support on this forum. So I informed him of that in his first thread and locked it. He then created ANOTHER identical thread bitching that I locked his first. Which I promptly merged witht eh first and locked again. He also spent a bit of time spamming a few other people's threads trying to get them to look at his thread. He then made ANOTHER thread about the same thing. Yes technically the 3rd thread was universal but he posted it as a cry for 1.7.10 help and I was annoyed enough to not really look to deep into it. Now he's hijacking other people threads to bitch about the admins {me} on this site. Which is not appropriate. If you have a legit complaint we'll take it into account but just hijacking to say we're assholes is not legit. Anyways, that ends that. As for on topic. I may take it for granted but whenever I see a file I'm told to change text in.. I open it in a text editor... I just feel that's common sense. But whatever. You have to open the splash.properties file in a text editor as larsgerrits stated.
  3. Not particularly, I would suggest going through and killing off as many JRE's you have installed as possible. And only EVER install the 64 bit, NOT both. You can also try forcing the installer to use a specific JVM by download the Jar file and then running the java.exe directly as such: {path to java.exe}\java.exe -jar {path to installer.jar}\{installer filename}.jar
  4. Multimc or any other launcher that requires entering your minecraft credentials is not supported or endorsed here. Literally all you have to do is select the 'Forge' profile in the vanilla launcher. If you want to use a custom profile you just need to select the Forge version in the version drop down list. But again. LAST WARNING. WE DO NOT SUPPORT 1.7.10 on this forum! This goes for you derf6060 as well. People should update. If you want to use old versions you're on your own.
  5. You have to run the game with the normal launcher first and again, 1.7.10 isn't supported on this forum anymore, UPDATE if you want help. If you create another thread for this again you'll get a 3 day ban.
  6. 1.7.10 isn't supported on this forum anymore, however its the same install process as normal versions.. so just run the installer.
  7. Ya, there isn't much we can do to help you. Optifine is a thing that just hacks into A LOT of internal stuff. And we've tried to expose as much as we can to help him. But he's closed source, and doesn't talk or submit issues. So ya, can't do anything. Plus the fact that MOST users don't get any performance out of Optifine. Oh well. Make your choice, Optifine or Forge. We've done our best.
  8. This is a very odd one indeed. It's crashing in the core awt compiled code... I'd say try nuking any installs of java you have. Restarting your computer, then installing a nice fresh JVM from Oracle's site.
  9. Actually you're right there is really no reason to keep the index.html up. Could just make a header redirect to the normal download page. All the files are mavenized so that has no more data then the normal download page... Edit: Uploaded a redirect.
  10. You just moved files around that you shouldn't of, You can delete it. However for your new issue read the EAQs as listed at the top of this forum and disable the loading screen. Before you ask how to do that, it's in the EAQs -.-
  11. Because I do not accept anecdotal 'my stuff is laggy it's all Forge's fault!' Forge is constantly Profiled by many people. None of whom see anything like what you're reporting. All reports always either come with a bunch of mods/coremods installed, or absolutely no real information to go off of. So start providing actual stuff we can act on and I might start caring. VERY basic would be providing a log file from your test runs. Which is why it's part of the EAQs under "READ THIS OR YOU WILL BE BANNED" section. Slightly higher, and more useful, would be to provide some form of profiler run. JVisualVM and JProfiler are both excellent tools for doing this. Again, you guys give us no information to work with, make unsubstantiated claims. We can't do anything without any information. Simple as that.
  12. I have already updated our internal tools to support the last few snapshots, its not that big of a deal. It'll be some work but it shouldn't take to long. Just waiting on 1.12's official drop.
  13. yes, you should never open the jars, just put the jars in the mods folder.
  14. Sorry, I missed one symbol in my response, you are at ~10%. Either way, if you have actual issues report them properly not this. I've answered your original post.
  15. 1) We do not support 1.7.10 on this forum 2) If you MUST use 1.7.10 atleast use the latest 1.7.10...
  16. 1) This is a common error the solution is there if you search 2) We no longer give support for 1.7.10 on this forums, update.
  17. We do not support or endorse people bypassing downloading he installer. Sadly this is just how it has to be, as the ads are our sole source of revenue to pay for the servers that run this thing. And trust me they aren't cheap.
  18. If all server side mods say that they are server side only, or accept the mod missing on the client then Forge will allow it to connect. You have to talk to the mod authors.
  19. THere is a way to specify the modList by command line, it's documented if you just look. Also, as I said in the other thread you necroed, DO NOT MAKE CUSTOM LAUNCHERS. This is THE rule Mojang has, DO NOT have users input their credentials into non-mojang shit.
  20. Don't make custom launcher, use Mojang's. This is like THE strict rule that Mojang has.
