Okay, so I got Java SE to be able to run the .jar installer file, however, it only opens to a black screen, types something and then closes really fast. The installer does not come up afterwards. What do I do? I've been trying to install Forge for two weeks now.

Some zip managers like to take control of the .jar file extension away from Java.
Make sure you have Java installed and try running Jarfix once, then try the installer again.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Hi.

Same problem here. Have several Forge versions installed , but the one version - 2847 -  wont open for installation. I checked following;

-Updated java installation

-Uninstalled & reinstalled Java

-Ran Jarfix

Still- nothing :)

Any other tips? Can someone perhaps help out and check the installer message (I am not a heavie techie..;) - just a mom trying to help out...:)
