Hey, Do you have to install all three of the files (Client, Server and SRC files) for it to work?

Sorry, Just wanted to check.

Also, you just put the files into your .minecraft folder?

Thanks!

It depends on what you're going to be doing with it. If you're wanting it for only single player mods, you'll need to install the client version. If you're wanting to play with mods on a server, you'll need both the client and server. SRC is for if you actually want to develop your own mods using Forge.

So, simple rundown;

  • Only client for just Singleplayer.

  • Both Client and Server for Multiplayer

  • SRC only if you plan on developing mods.

Other than that, installation instructions can be found on the wiki. :)

You install teh client on the client

You install the server on the server

You install the source in MCP

You never install more then one of them in the same place.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

Exactly.

And they go in the minecraft.jar

So, what would happen if I did push that shiny red button over there? ... Really? ... Can I try it? ... Damn.
