So I decided to make an account here to get help with forge (im using the Magic Launcher for forge, cus im too used to using it, but anyways), and I seem to be having a problem

With minecraft changing how some mods work, forge changed as well, but it seems I am having trouble with using forge; here's the log

I am using optifine, rei's minimap, and inventory tweaks in that order, trying to get it to work with forge, but when I try and do so (with the Magic Launcher im using), it loads a bit, and it just.....crashes I guess?  It just shows the mojang screen, then the minecraft 1.6.2 screen just closes; I must say im asking help purely with forge and not the other mods; im using a different forum for those mods, and....I honestly don;t know what else to do here.  I read the FAQ's and rules for this section of the forum, and I even put my log in a spoiler tag (but it lists it as hidden, and idk how to make it a spoiler tag, unless hidden IS the spoiler), and im just generally confused right now; im not much of a smart person, and trying to figure this out on my own is giving me a headache; can you forge support people please help me, because at this point, I don't know what to do

I even tried manually installing the latest universal minecraft forge jar in the 1.6.2 vanilla minecraft version, and it did nothing, minecraft didnt even boot up saying it had forge installed

You're editing the jar file, Stop editing the jar file.

Nothing should go into the jar file anymore.

If you're using Optifine follow it's instructions on how to install it along side Forge.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

I have used the instructions on how to use optifine with the forge client and magic launcher, and I have gotten it to work, but so far, trying to use even one of my other mods (either the minimap mod, or the inventory tweaks mod), causes it to crash.  Here is the forge check log from this crash (I had to use "-Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true" in the parameters tab of the magic launcher to get optifine to work, idk what else to use to get the 2 other mods to work, I can't java-code worth a coin)

are you talking about the 1.6.2 version of forge, because back when I used the minecraft 1.5.2 version of forge with magic launcher, even though magic launcher gave me the "forge has 4 errors" warning thing, it worked regardless

plus, I checked the optifine topic, it has steps on getting forge to work with optifine and magic launcher; I used it, it worked, therefore (using the right parameter commands and stuff), forge DOES work with magic launcher.  I am sorry if I sounded argumentative, but I came here calmly asking for help, so may you kind denizens of this forum assist me please?

Read optifine install instructions. Follow them to the letter.

I must say that I HAVE followed the instructions to use optifine with forge, and I am now waiting  on how to make my 2 other mods work with it; I realize I must ask the mod makers on their respective minecraft forum topics, but I tried, and so far, either I couldn't find my answer to it, or my answer was posted, but it got drowned out by the other posters

I think I may have solved one part of this problem of mine, but it still exists.

I ended up browsing along the minecraft forum thread for inv tweaks, and after seeing some people saying "load it as a core mod" and stuff, I tried doing that and had no success.  Then I tried disabling inv tweaks and enabling rei's minimap; strangely enough, it worked, which (I guess) means the problem resides with inv tweaks; when I enabled it to work with the minecraft 1.6.2 forge profile I got, it causes minecraft to crash.

I don't know if this means the problem is no longer a forge problem, but since inv tweaks NEEDS forge to work, then maybe it is still a forge problem; if that is the case, is there some kind of java code I can add in to my magic launcher params so forge can load inv tweaks without it conflicting with my other mods and causing my minecraft to crash

If inv tweaks goes in the jar its there problem which is what it sounds like.

this might be my final forge post in this topic of mine

I ended up putting the jar file for inv tweaks in the mods folder, and ran a test with the magic launcher log screen open; somehow, it worked and I got my mods back.  Though, WHY it causes my minecraft to crash with both of them in one spot confuses me; nether the less, I guess it wasn't a forge issue, and I have solved the problem......for now.

sorry if I wasted anyone's time
