I donwloaded forge 38.0.1 double-clicked it Installed server, chose a new path Once done, I ran "run.bat" Debug.log here

How do I know which version is supported here, when latest version and reminder message above conflict? Should I try an older version? Is there an actual guide anywhere for the correct steps and dependencies to install this?

game changed the way you create foods.
for example minecraft 1.21.8 code for the golden apple is
