I have added mobs in previous versions but can't seem to figure it out for 1.6.2

Please help.

I can't help you as I am in the same boat.  Kind of stuck on a mod until I can learn the mobs again.  Had it going in 1.4.7, but not so much in 1.6.2. . . If anyone has an up to date tutorial on how to make a very basic mob and get them to render, it would be very appreciated.  I think I just need the new render stuff.

so guys .. what not working ?

i have "entities" that arent mobs but they wernt affected by a change from 1.5.2 to 1.6.2

how to debug 101:http://www.minecraftforge.net/wiki/Debug_101

Well, there is the Attribute system, the EntityLivingBase on top of EntityLiving, and a new obfuscation name of the interact(player) method.

Basically when I spawn my mob it is invisible but if I put lava where I spawned it I can hear it dying, so I know it is there!

The only major change is the RenderYOURMOB class. The texture directory is now

writen there, and THERE IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT WAY OF RENDERING!

For those of you who have "invisible" mobs. HERE:

package assets.cutiesmod.render;

import net.minecraft.client.model.ModelBase;
import net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.RenderLiving;
import net.minecraft.entity.Entity;
import net.minecraft.util.ResourceLocation;
import assets.cutiesmod.common.CutiesMod;
import assets.cutiesmod.entity.EntityMaleCutie;
import cpw.mods.fml.relauncher.Side;
import cpw.mods.fml.relauncher.SideOnly;

@SideOnly(Side.CLIENT)
public class RenderYOURMOB extends RenderLiving
{

    public static final ResourceLocation Texture = new ResourceLocation(YOURMOD.modid, "/textures/entity/YOURMOB.png");
    public RenderYOURMOB(ModelBase par1ModelBase, float par2)
    {
        super(par1ModelBase, par2);
    }

    protected ResourceLocation func_110832_a(EntityYOURMOB par1EntityYOURMOB)
    {
        return Texture;
    }

    protected ResourceLocation func_110775_a(Entity par1Entity)
    {
        return this.func_110832_a((EntityYOURMOB)par1Entity);
    }
}

@SideOnly(Side.CLIENT)
public class RenderYOURMOB extends RenderLiving
{

    public static final ResourceLocation texture = new ResourceLocation(YOURMOD.modid, "textures/entity/YOURMOB.png");
    public RenderYOURMOB(ModelBase par1ModelBase, float par2)
    {
        super(par1ModelBase, par2);
    }

@Override
    protected ResourceLocation func_110775_a(Entity par1Entity)
    {
        return texture;
    }
}

Would be better, just saying ;)

Thats my current code, is that all ok?

If it is working, then you have your answer :).

If not, then what is wrong?

The mob is just invisible. That is my problem.

Fixes:

Render class

@SideOnly(Side.CLIENT)

public class RenderTest extends RenderLiving

{

    public static final ResourceLocation texture = new ResourceLocation("Zoo","textures/entity/steve.png");

    public RenderTest(ModelBase par1ModelBase, float par2)

    {

        super(par1ModelBase, par2);

    }

@Override

    protected ResourceLocation func_110775_a(Entity par1Entity)

    {

        return texture;

    }

}

Main mod file

@EventHandler
public void init(FMLInitializationEvent e)
{
	EntityRegistry.addSpawn(EntityTest.class, 6, 2, 4, EnumCreatureType.creature);
	EntityRegistry.registerEntity(EntityTest.class, "Test", 1,this, 40,3,false );
                EntityList.entityEggs.put(1, new EntityEggInfo(1, 0xFFFFFF, 0x000000);
	//RenderingRegistry.registerEntityRenderingHandler(EntityTest.class, new RenderTest(new ModelBiped(), 2F));TODO:Put on client side
}
}
