Posted May 26, 20223 yr I wanted to make a block that melts like ice. I use the tick method in the BlockEntity to periodically check the light level. However level.getBrightness(LightLayer.BLOCK,pos); always returns 0.
May 27, 20223 yr Author public class GreenIceBlockEntity extends BlockEntity { public GreenIceBlockEntity(BlockPos pos, BlockState state) { super(ModBlockEntitys.GREENICE.get(), pos, state); } public void tick(Level level, BlockPos pos, BlockState state, GreenIceBlockEntity blockEntity){ int l = level.getBrightness(LightLayer.BLOCK,pos); System.out.println(l); } }
August 31, 20223 yr I have this problem. I create BlockPos with Y position plus 1 (it is air on my block), but i have always 0 return
August 31, 20223 yr level.getRawBrightness(blockPos, 0) This gives you the max of the block light and the sky light. It's what gets used by vanilla for things like mob spawning or crop growth. Replace blockPos with blockPos.above() if your block does not let light through it. Boilerplate: If you don't post your logs/debug.log we can't help you. For curseforge you need to enable the forge debug.log in its minecraft settings. You should also post your crash report if you have one. If there is no error in the log file and you don't have a crash report then post the launcher_log.txt from the minecraft folder. Again for curseforge this will be in your curseforge/minecraft/Install Large files should be posted to a file sharing site like https://gist.github.com You should also read the support forum sticky post.
