How did you install Forge?

Did you use the installer?

The issue is that it can't find the ClientBrandRetriever class which should be inside the unmodified minecraft.jar.

How are you running the game?

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

i run the game by opening the minecraft launcher, chosing the forge account, making sure it has the forge .jar chosen, i hit play and then i recieve that message.

i  have gotten that message every time i try to install forge. i have tried today, last week and about a month ago with all different versions of forge and have gotten the same message each time

This did not work. Either you have modified the minecraft jar file (if so run the forge installer again), or you are using a base editing jar that is changing this class (and likely others too). If you REALLY want to run minecraft in this configuration, add the flag -Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true to the 'JVM settings' in your launcher profile.

Try running vanilla 1.6.2 then re running the installer, else really go check if there is something else in the jar that shouldnt be there.

Delete the jar, or the whole 1.6.2 version folder, and let the launcher download a new one by selecting the default account. Then install forge again, and run the forge profile.
